I guess it's not nearly as official as that, but I did happen to watch a couple of non-sports television programs last night. That is not neccessarily rare during this part of the year, but it has been months since I've watched a non-reality/real actor honest to goodness tv program. I, like almost everyone else, enjoy a good reality tv show. I watched big brother this summer, and will watch on a semi-religious basis shows such as: American Idol, The Amazing Race, and Survivor. But still, there is something to be said for a well written script that snatches you up, takes you for a ride it's choosing, and leaves you craving the next week's show.
As far as I'm concerned, these shows are pretty rare. "24" at it's best, in season one, was like crack in DVD form, watching 3 episodes in a row was not a problem. My family ripped through the entire first season in like a week or so, and we went on ebay and bought the first eight episodes of season 2 on tape to catch up because we couldn't fathom having to wait for the show to end and then wait for the dvds to come out months later. Now Lost was a pleasant surprise. I definitely wanted to give it a shot, but I wasn't sure if I was going to really get into it. Well I certainly did, and I've never missed an episode. The writers have done a good job of both revealing the secrets you've been wanting and bringing up new mysteries that leave you wanting. The actual dialog is well written and it doesn't hurt that the cast is good looking. Finally, Heroes debuted last year, and while I wanted to like it, I wasn't sure if it was going to be very good. As it turns out, it ended up being quite good. The weekly cliffhangers were done very well, and Sylar was/is an EXCELLENT villain. I wasn't completely thrilled with the last episode of season one. The writers did a pretty good job of wrapping up the season, but the preview of the upcoming season didn't exactly leave me salivating.
This brings me to last night. I made my way to Steve and Janie's house for a night of Heroes and food. Look for Steve to post a picture of our Hot Brown Sandwich/casserole(cheesy white sauce over turkey over toast). As far as the premier, I enjoyed it, it just reminds me of what a bad memory I have. I always forget what a bad memory I have... I forgot that the mind reader had been shot. I forgot that Sylar had gotten killed. Of course it all rings a bell, but the only thing that really stuck with me was that sqare jaw flying Petrelli took saggy lower lip Petrelli into the air, superman style, and they created a rather large super human firework. So the early part of the show was filled with questions like, "Sylar's dead? How'd he die again?" Anyway, I got a kick out of the Central American brother and sister. It's always fun to guess what someone's ability is. My guess is that she shows everyone Britney Spears' VMA performance until their eyes explode. Oh, and then there is the guy that can add a layer of gold plating to silverware, and the creepy floating perv boy. Overall it was enjoyable, but it seems the only real big moment was finding out that Peter was still alive which you just had to know anyway. It's nice to have the show back, but this one, I'll give a 7 out of 10. I must leave "work" now, I'm being rushed, so I must go.
